Rally for Better Education: Moms March on Madigan
This year, our state passed an income tax increase and put NONE of the money toward education. Now the Illinois House has approved a budget that cuts hundreds of millions of dollars in general state aid and early childhood education funding. The excuse: Illinois is broke. But what was the excuse for not properly funding education during flush times? Do not forget - a budget is a set of priorities and our children are clearly nota priority for the legislative leadrs in our state.
In recent years we’ve lost thousands of teaching positions in pre-k, kindergarten, special educaion, bilingual education, arts, physical education and so much more. We keep pushing the boulder up the hill, working hard at our kids' schools to improve things, only to watch the boulder keep falling down.
Parenting requires so much of all of us, including being our children's best, most vocal advocate when it comes to their education. Add your presence and voice to help us tell Mike Madigan and the Illinois House that their budget is bad for our children.
